- 03/12/2019 20:14 After entering Liberia for 15 years I am delighted to see the new terminal where the majority of staff are helpful and reasonably efficient. However, when customs officials ask for a 'tip' and the 'guard' at the entrance, near the old terminal, starts yelling at me and my Liberian colleagues (all to get a bribe, of course... we know the drill - it becomes a sad reflection. The old spirits of the Charle Taylor days ate still around. In England, we used to say (Of parking attendants and such) "Give a man a cap and he becomes a Little Hitler." In Monrovia and at the airport it is seemingly, 'give him a lanyard with a badge on the end.
